Apptekz Push Notification Features

In this short article, we’ll clarify the the latest Push Notification features available on our mobile app platform beginning in version 5.x.

Until version 5, we had 2 features, PWA Push, and Push Notifications. With the update to version 5, Push Notifications was replaced by Push v2 and now provides additional functionality and more robust support for Native Apps features. Push v2 leverages both Firebase and One Signal integration to improve deliverability, usability, and improved functionality.

We have created a document to explain the particulars for Push v2 implementation and both Firebase and One Signal configuration which is now required to be done on a per-app basis. That guide can be found here: https://apptekz.com/onesignal-push-notification-update

PWA Push is only designed for PWA implementations and should not typically be used for Native Apps unless both Native and PWA will be used by the intended app user audience. In such cases, additional work to show end users the correct Push Notification Message Queue for their particular usage.

PWA Push now supports both Android and iOS push notifications on PWAs when used on a supported mobile browser. Most Chromium based browsers on Android, as well as Safari on iOS, support PWA Push Notifications to devices where user has opted-in.

Push Notifications are a very powerful feature used to engage with customers between visits to drive loyalty, offer promotions, alerts, reminders and more. Push Notifications are often used like SMS messages, without the cost associated, making Mobile App based notifications a very powerful mobile marketing solution for all businesses and organizations.
